Was Born in Brooklyn, Nueva York July 23, 1952.

In 1965 Siegel recorded with a band named: Young Generation in Red Bird Records . In 1972 the original Manhattan Transfer had dissolved, and the founder Tim Hauser formed the group again with few different singers, including Siegel. This incarnation of the group has enjoyed international popularity, covering songs from the 1930s through the 1980s in a variety of genres including jazz fusion, R & B, outbreak, and doo wop. The band has received 10 Grammy awards during the stay of Siegel, and it was included in the Hall of Fame Vocal Group in 2003.

In 1985, Siegel joined Jon Hendricks, Bobby McFerrin and Dianne Reeves in a group called Sing, Sing, Sing. In 2015, he launched Honey & Air, collaboration with John DiMartino and Nanny Assis as the Requinite Trio. His first CD "Honey & Air" has won critical and popular acclaim and group tours. She has been also a member of Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra.

Her first solo album, Experiment in White, was released in 1981, and her second album, At Home, was nominated for a Grammy Award for best female jazz singer. She has won ten Grammys as a member of Manhattan Transfer.
Over the past four and a half decades, the voice of Janis Siegel has been nominated for 17 Grammy awards, nine of them Grammy-winning.
